Hi, actually I just purchased a maths game online that became a huge hit with our two girls (7 and 10 years old).
It takes them into lovely environments where they ride a horse to find magical flowers, gems and so on. Something I reckon most girls will relate to. It doesn't teach math per se, but it's awesome for practicing those number tables (all are included - addition right through to division), so the girls will be busy for a while...
Anyway, have a look at http://mathsrider.com (I think it's Australian made). Highly recommended. Anyone got any other suggestions?
Cheers, Nadine

I always love your greatest game lists! It amazes me how diverse the apps are for the iPhone now. I hope that Playnormous will get some health games on the iPhone at some point. We get a lot of opposition on that in the office though. Many argue that there aren't enough kids out there with an iPhone or iPod Touch. I don't know...if studios are making games like "Wheels on the Bus," surely there must be a good number of kids out there with access to the iPhone, right?

I'm familiar with this, after helping my husband study for his citizenship exam. How many Americans actually know what the original 13 colonies (not states) were?

I was reading a post this morning by Dr. Scott McLeod on "Video games and learning: Individualization, simulation, and complexity" (http://www.dangerouslyirrelevant.org/2008/08/video-games-and.html). What's fascinating to me is how the complexities of the games are reinforcing the multi-tasking culture today's kids are growing up in. They can take more on in less time. I need to do some homework to understand if this has a direct correlation to increased learning capacities, but there is no doubt that today's online games are learning tools - at least indirectly.

Good to see the Ramos Games folks are looking at the educational value of games for kids!
